About Us

Vance Bible Church is a nondenominational Bible Believing Church. We are not affiliated with any church organizations or fellowships. We are interested in being a New Testament church. Our text is the Bible and our desire is to give the message of salvation.

In 1960, the congregation drew up a constitution and became an independent church. On Sunday, December 20, 1960, the congregation voted to accept the constitution and call the church, “Vance Bible Church.”

Since that time, Vance Bible Church has seen many people come to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The church has also seen many different ministries that have made an impact on the community around us.

We believe that the local church is the blueprint for God’s work in the world today. Ephesians 4:11-12 says, “And He gave some, apostles; and some prophets; and some, pastors and teachers for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ;”

These verses make it clear that Pastors and teachers have a main duty. That main duty is for “THE PERFECTING OF THE SAINTS.” The word perfecting means to mend. It is used of Peter mending his nets on the shore. That would mean that as God’s people come together around the Word of God, the major purpose is to mend Christians. We must see that they are helped by the Bible to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord.

I believe that there are many of God’s people who are not being fed the Word of God to help them to be all that God wants them to be. In Ephesians 4:12 it says two things that believers are to be mended for or to accomplish. The first is “for the work of the ministry”. This means that Christians are to be helped in learning to do the ministry. They must learn what their gifts are and how to use them. The second thing that christians must learn is how to build up or edify the other christians in the church. The urging of the Bible is that we each would help the other to become what God wants of us. “As iron sharpens iron so does one man sharpen another man’s countenance.”

At Vance Bible Church we do take seriously the mandate to go into all the world and proclaim the message of Salvation. In fact we are doing what we can in this area to be good witnesses of the Savior. We pray that those who come to the services will be renewed to be good witnesses in their neighborhood, in the marketplace, at work and in their families. We also support about 30 different missionaries or mission groups. We have believed that god will bless our ministry as we try to support as many missionaries as possible.
