What We Believe

Here at Vance Bible Church we believe that the Bible is God's Word. It gives us the way of salvation as well as the guide for life here on earth. The Bible is the only revealed truth God has given us so that we could experience a loving relationship with God.

The Bible tells us our problem of sin and how it has separated us from God. God sent His son, Jesus, to be the perfect sacrifice for our sin. Jesus, having no sin of His own, paid for our sins on the cross by dying for us. The Bible makes it very clear that this is the only way man could be forgiven of sin. When we put our trust in this payment, we receive the gift of eternal life.

We believe that once a person has put his trust in Jesus he is to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord. There are a number of steps we are to take in this growth. First we are to follow the Lord in believer's baptism. Not to be cleansed of sin or to gain eternal life but rather as a picture of what we have already done. It represents the truth of the Gospel that Jesus died and was buried and then rose again. When one is baptized, he is identified with Christ. He is, as well, being obedient to the Lord, for Jesus told us to be baptized.

We believe that the church is the body that God has ordained to be the witness for the Lord as well as to teach those who know Christ all things that will help them to grow strong in their Christian life.

We also believe that the local church is commissioned to support and send out missionaries into all the world so that others will hear the Gospel. Here at Vance Bible Church we support some 30 missionaries in this endeavor to reach those who have not heard.

We believe that Jesus will come again one day. There is nothing that is hindering the return of Jesus except His great love for those who are lost in giving them every opportunity to believe. We refer to this coming as The Blessed Hope.
